Rangers have enjoyed a strong first transfer window under manager Gio van Bronckhorst as they have made two additions to their ranks at Ibrox.

James Sands has arrived on an 18-month loan from New York City FC and John Souttar is poised to arrive in the summer after penning a pre-contract agreement with the central defender.

Football Scotland reporter Mark Hendry has claimed that the Dutch head coach is now eyeing up a deal for a Scottish youth international this month.

He Tweeted: “EXCLUSIVE! Rangers interested in Motherwell and Scotland prospect Bailey Rice as Manchester City also weigh up move.”

Van Bronckhorst could land the club’s next Nathan Patterson by securing a swoop for Rice this month as he is a promising young player with the potential to break into the first team down the line.

The right-back made the breakthrough at Ibrox and went on to play 27 times in the senior side before being sold to Premier League side Everton for a club-record transfer fee this month.

Managing director Stewart Robertson explained the thinking behind the sale, saying: 

“This is a deal which fits with our long-term, strategic vision for the club. We have been very clear that player trading is an important element of our business model but only when the circumstances suit Rangers.

“We are delighted for Nathan and his family, wish them all the best for the future and they will always be welcome back at Ibrox.”

This shows that the club are looking to bleed through youngsters from the academy and into the first-team in the hope of developing them into a player who can make them a large profit in the future.

Therefore, the signing of Rice could be a shrewd deal as he could follow in the footsteps of Patterson by impressing in the youth teams before breaking into van Bronckhorst’s side in the years to come.

Rice has captained Scotland at youth level and is said to be one of Motherwell’s most talented prospects, which suggests that he has the potential to grow into a top player.

The fact that Rangers and Manchester City have become alerted to his possible availability also indicates that they have seen enough from him at such a young age to believe that he could be a valuable asset moving forward.

This means that he could be the next Patterson for Rangers and Scotland in the future and that is why van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson must work hard to pip Pep Guardiola’s side to his signature.

– Temos uma limitação de custos para a pré-temporada, vamos levar de 28 a 30 atletas para lá. Quanto a jogos-treino devemos fazer um coletivo mais forte com algum time sub-20 de alguma equipe. E fazer um amistoso no sábado antes da estreia e pelo tempo vamos nos preparar durante a competição. E diante disso vamos cuidar para saber como realizar tudo isso – declarou o técnico.

As principais novidades da atividade foram o lateral Capa e os atacantes Rômulo e Maurinho, que está otimista com seu retorno ao clube.

Responsáveis pelos trabalhos físicos de avaliação, o preparador Jaelson Ortiz explicou que os treinos realizados pela equipe neste período são específicos e intervalados, o que exige bastante dedicação dos atletas.

– Nosso objetivo é avaliar bem a situação de cada atleta e ter uma noção exata das necessidades a partir do trabalho que realizaremos no fim de semana e durante a nossa permanência em Águas Mornas. O grupo é praticamente o mesmo que terminou a temporada passada e isso ajuda bastante na retomada – explicou o profissional.

Many Glasgow Rangers fans criticised the performance of Scott Wright in their 1-0 win against Livingston in the Premiership on Wednesday night.

It was a game in which the hosts were certainly not at their best at Ibrox but managed to scrape all three points courtesy of a late goal from Scott Arfield.

There were a few disappointing performances for Rangers, but Wright stood out among a bad pack.

The former Aberdeen winger lost out on five of his duels in total and failed to record a single successful dribble, also being unsuccessful with three of his four crosses (SofaScore).

Wright also lost possession of the ball 13 times, the joint-sixth most out of his teammates, and he was hauled off for Ryan Jack shortly after the goal was scored.

In an update shared from the official website of the St. James’ Park faithful on Thursday, Lewis is now one of three players to have been left out of their 25-man squad for the second half of the Premier League season.

This feels a pretty significant moment for Lewis in particular, being younger than his two teammates and hailed as ‘excellent’ and ‘so athletic’ by Eddie Howe.

Taking to Twitter, The Daily Telegraph journalist Edwards has revealed that Lewis will now be going out on loan abroad, after being left out of the squad:

“I believe Jamal Lewis will be heading abroad on loan after he was left out of #nufc 25-man squad.”

Some transfer windows are still open, such as in Turkey, Switzerland and Russia.

The Verdict: Let him go

After the North East club brought in left-back Targett from Aston Villa on Transfer Deadline Day, it should now pave way for Lewis to go.

They already have cover in that position in Matt Ritchie, and Lewis needs to try and rekindle some form elsewhere now that he will not be playing top flight games.

The Northern Ireland international currently ranks in the bottom six Magpies players in terms of performance in the league so far this term, and with only five appearances made in total (WhoScored), needs to get some game time elsewhere.

He could have gone on loan to Birmingham City in the Championship, but with the domestic window now shut, going abroad is his only other option.

No apagar das luzes, movimentações de última hora deixam torcedores e membros de oposição – os quais a indicação é a de que assumam o clube para o triênio 2018-2020 – perplexos. O LANCE! lista alguns pontos nesta sexta-feira.

– Saídas e mais saídas

Desde terça-feira, jogadores importantes do Vasco estão sendo negociados por Eurico Miranda. Anderson Martins já foi confirmado pelo São Paulo, Madson tem a vida encaminhada com o Grêmio e Mateus Vital está perto do Corinthians. Guilherme Costa recebeu propostas e nesta sexta-feira as partes querem definir o seu futuro, mas a tendência é que ele também não fique no Vasco para 2018.

Um fato liga os quatro jogadores: todos são agenciados por Carlos Leite. O empresário é o maior aliado do presidente Eurico Miranda, que internamente já admitiu derrota na eleição da semana que vem para Julio Brant, candidato de oposição – publicamente, diz que recorrerá até a última instância. Nos bastidores, o mandatário do Vasco – com a atual gestão válida até terça-feira – afirma que não vai segurar nenhum jogador.

Nas conversas nos bastidores, a atual cúpula do Vasco afirma que “quem tem mercado deixará o clube e quem não tem irá renovar”. Isso por conta de existirem terceiros que ganham a cada contrato realizado também, sejam por meio de comissões ou bônus. Atletas que estavam lesionados, como Breno e Ramon, prorrogaram com o Cruz-Maltino com a recuperação das lesões como influência.

Dos jogadores do empresário Carlos Leite, dos que ainda não têm propostas consideradas interessantes de outros clubes, haverá a renovação. Também crias das categorias de base, Paulo Vitor e Paulinho não receberam ofertas atraentes e vão assinar até segunda-feira a prorrogação de seus contratos. Mas não está descartado que depois dessas renovações, caso surjam ofertas de última hora, negociações sejam realizadas.

O LANCE! tentou entrar em contato com o empresário Carlos Leite ao longo de toda a última quinta-feira, mas não obteve retorno até a publicação desta reportagem.

– “Pagamento” de atrasados

A atual gestão do presidente Eurico Miranda não vem mantendo os pagamentos em dia desde o início do segundo semestre do ano passado. Em coletiva na última terça-feira, o mandatário admitiu que as folhas de novembro, dezembro e 13º salário de 2017 estão atrasadas. Para “minimizar” isso, na última quinta-feira, foi realizado uma espécie de “pagamento” a parte de funcionários. O portão 9 de São Januário, ao longo da tarde, entrava e saía carro.

Fontes ouvidas pelo LANCE! afirmaram que isso aconteceu entre 16h e 19h da última quinta-feira. Ingressos para o jogo da estreia em casa do Vasco na Conmebol Libertadores foram distribuídos a aliados de Eurico Miranda, além de produtos do clube, como camisas da Umbro da “Mega-Loja”, chuteiras e materiais de viagem. Televisores e computadores também foram usados como pagamento destes atrasados.

Funcionários que receberam estes produtos do Vasco como forma de pagamento das dívidas, inclusive, já estão tentando revender para angariar dinheiro. O LANCE! teve acesso a algumas imagens de venda, onde camisa de treino é vendida por R$ 100, bolsa de viagem a R$ 130, bermuda de treino R$ 70 e camisa de goleiro a R$ 160. Alguns funcionários aproveitaram a quinta-feira para recolher pertences pessoais.

O LANCE! procurou o atual presidente Eurico Miranda durante toda a última quinta-feira, mas não obteve resposta até a publicação desta reportagem. Via assessoria, o clube informou que “isso tudo é armado e a imprensa embala”.

– Reação de Julio Brant

Diante de todas as movimentações nos últimos dias, Julio Brant cogitou ir a 17a DP (São Cristovão) ainda na noite da última quinta-feira para entrar com denúncia de notícia-crime. Porém, o candidato da chapa Sempre Vasco Livre cancelou por ter tido uma reunião com Grandes Beneméritos e conselheiros natos do Vasco e logo na sequência se reunir com seu departamento jurídico.

Na manhã desta sexta-feira, às 11h, Julio Brant conversará com os jornalistas em entrevista coletiva convocada na noite da última quinta-feira. Após esta coletiva os pares acreditam que ele vá enfim até a delegacia fazer a denúncia. Já o Vasco chegou na tarde da quinta convocar a imprensa para uma coletiva do técnico Zé Ricardo às 12h30 desta sexta, mas voltou atrás no fim da noite de quinta e cancelou a entrevista depois de todas as movimentações.

Vale lembrar que com a atual decisão da Justiça, a urna 7 da eleição do Vasco está anulada. Com isso, a chapa de Julio Brant foi a vencedora, com a chapa de Eurico Miranda ficando em segundo lugar. Caso a decisão se mantenha – o que é a expectativa entre as duas chapas -, a chapa de Brant indicará 120 conselheiros para o Deliberativo, enquanto a chapa de Eurico indicará 30.

Estes 150 conselheiros eleitos indicados se juntam a outros 150, só que natos, totalizando 300. Os 300 conselheiros que serão responsáveis, na semana que vem, em votar em qual vai ser o presidente do Vasco no triênio 2018-2020. Vale lembrar que estatuto do Vasco determina eleição indireta. A data deve ser marcada ainda nesta sexta-feira para a próxima terça, depois de na última quinta a juíza Maria Cecília Pinto Gonçalves, da 52ª Vara Cível do Rio, determinar cumprimento das regras em 24 horas.
