According to a report by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, a Tottenham Hotspur transfer update has come to light involving Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar.

The Lowdown: Skriniar to Spurs saga…

Back in the summer of 2020, Inter’s colossal centre-back was a serious target for then-manager Jose Mourinho and chairman Daniel Levy – with club chief Steve Hitchen even flying out to Italy for negotiations at one point (Alasdair Gold).

However, it was reported that both Spurs and the Nerazzurri couldn’t agree on a price tag for the player with talks eventually grinding to a halt and the deal collapsing (Fabrizio Romano).

There have been murmurs of Tottenham reigniting their interest since last year but none of which have come to fruition, yet it appears the Lilywhites could now return to the charge.

The Latest: Conte eyeing Skriniar…

As per CDS, via Sport Witness, new Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has now personally put the Slovakia international on his ‘wish list’ for a transfer.

Skriniar was a mainstay under the Italian last season as his Inter side ended Juventus’ stranglehold over the Italian top flight with a Serie A title win.

The Verdict: Get it done…

Despite the great form of Eric Dier, not to mention the summer signing of 2020/2021 Serie A MVP award-winner Cristian Romero, we believe another star central defender would seriously back Conte’s chances of success at N17.

They don’t come more accomplished than Skriniar, either, with only Dier averaging more league clearances per 90 this season than Skriniar out of Tottenham’s current defensive crop (WhoScored).

The Champions League defender has also drawn admiration from Spurs legend Graham Roberts, with the 62-year-old calling Skriniar an ‘absolute banker of a signing’ for the club (This is Futbol).

Also called ‘incredible’ by his former teammate Adam Zilak, signing Skriniar for Conte would certainly be a great move.

Axel Tuanzebe’s season-long loan at Aston Villa could be could short, according to Fabrizio Romano. 

The lowdown

The Manchester United defender is currently in the midst of his third loan stint at Villa Park. He has made 11 appearances for the Villans this season in all competitions, including six Premier League starts.

There may be an opportunity for the 24-year-old to feature on Sunday, with Tyrone Mings suspended for the trip to Brentford.

Romano revealed on Twitter that Serie A outfit Napoli have tabled a proposal to take Tuanzebe on loan for the second half of the campaign, offering United a loan fee of €400,000 (£336,220), but the Red Devils are asking for €1m (£840,550), with the defender reportedly accepting the proposed move to Italy.

The journalist tweeted: “Manchester United want €1m for Axel Tuanzebe loan to Napoli until the end of the season. Current proposal is around €400k, talks progressing.

“The player has accepted to join Napoli and he’s waiting to see what happens, as Aston Villa too.”

The verdict

Tuanzebe’s Premier League opportunities may have been limited, but it would be a blow for Gerrard to lose him.

The Villa manager said ahead of the trip to Brentford that he ‘would be delighted to keep him’, not just until the end of the season but beyond that as well. However, he did concede that it was ‘very much in Ax’s hands and Manchester United’s hands’.

Gerrard’s predecessor Dean Smith also raved about the 24-year-old, hailing his ‘unbelievable attitude’  and describing him as ‘future captain’ material, but perhaps he didn’t play him enough if Tuanzebe is ready to jump at the chance to spend the rest of the season at Napoli.

Celtic signing Reo Hatate has now landed in the UK and is set to be unveiled as a Hoops player soon, Kieran Devlin reports.

The Lowdown: Triple signing

Ange Postecoglou and Michael Nicholson have made early inroads into the club’s January business, with moves for Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daizen Maeda already tied up.

Midfielders Hatate and Ideguchi have penned four-and-a-half-year contracts at Parkhead, whereas forward Maeda has joined on an initial loan deal with a compulsory purchase option included for the summer.

Both Maeda and Ideguchi have already been unveiled as Celtic players, and it seems as if Hatate will do the same shortly.

The Latest: Devlin’s claim

Devlin shared a post on The Athletic on Wednesday, saying: ‘understand Hatate has landed in the UK and is set to be unveiled as a Celtic player over the next few days’.

The 24-year-old, along with Maeda, has been removed from Japan’s squad for their Kirin Challenge match against Uzbekistan, with the squad made up of domestic players only.

The Verdict: Good news…

With all three now in the country and Hatate soon to be unveiled, it can only be viewed as good news ahead of Celtic’s return to action following the winter break.

The Hoops face Hibernian in 11 days, so having the Japanese trio all at Lennoxtown and involved with the squad could mean they may all have a chance to feature at Parkhead on Monday, January 17.

That will be a welcome boost for Postecoglou, who had a number of players sidelined prior to the winter break against St Johnstone through injury and Covid-19.

Resuming at 57 for 1, South’s chase of 291 was rocked in the first hour by Central’s seam attack. The overnight batsmen, Abhinav Mukund and Arun Karthik, were dismissed for the addition of just 15 runs. The time was ripe for a heroic rearguard, and a day after being included in the national side, Subramanian Badrinath seized the moment in style. At the other end, Manish Pandey did his cause no harm, striking a typically stroke-filled 59 with eight fours and a six. The duo added 102 in good time, giving their side the ascendancy, before RP Singh breached Pandey’s expansive drive to hit the stumps. Badrinath however, was not going to give it away and, mixing caution and aggression in the right proportions, took his side closer. He was finally sent back, 18 short of a hundred, with the target still 63 runs away. If Central entertained any thoughts of triggering a collapse, Ravichandran Ashwin quickly put paid to them, and asserted his influence on the match for the third time in three days. He smashed twelve fours in a 44-ball 59 and it was fitting that he and Muralidharen Gautam completed the remarkable comeback that they had initiated on the second day.Scorecard
While the action in Indore was edge-of-the-seat through the course of the final day, it was a slow burn to a foregone result in Rajkot, as West Zone sitting back on their monumental first-innings lead, played out a draw against North Zone. Having not enforced the follow-on, West had already killed the match as a contest, and the only interest on the final day centred around individual performances. Resuming at 56 for 1 on the final day, West batted on to accumulate 289 runs in the 75 overs that were bowled before the match was called off. In the process, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma struck attractive hundreds, and served the national selectors a reminder, albeit a day late. Rohit, in particular, was at his belligerent best, crashing five sixes in his 116 that came at a brisk strike-rate. Vikas Mishra picked his second four-wicket haul of the match, while Ravindra Jadeja helped himself to a fifty in the closing stages of play.The stalemate notwithstanding, West Zone proceed to the finals of the Duleep Trophy, where they will meet a confident South Zone.

Oárbitro Wagner Reway responderá por dupla infração ao artigo 260 do CBJD. Ele foi denunciado por não coibir a violência entre os atletas e deixar de punir Vizeu na comemoração do gol com gesto obsceno. Por cada ato, Reway pode receber suspensão de 30 a 180 dias, podendo ser cumulado com multa entre R$ 100 e R$ 1 mil.

Num caso menos grave, o Flamengo também poderá ser multado. Por atraso de um minuto na entrada em campo contra o Corinthians, o clubepode pagar uma pequena quantia.

وقال كلوب في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية: “كان مركزه مختلفًا، كان متجهًا للعمق (ناحية قلب الهجوم)، كلنا نعلم أنه لاعب رائع، اليوم أظهر ذلك”.

وأضاف: “مو هو مو، صاحب أسرع هاتريك في دوري أبطال أوروبا في التاريخ، أمر استثنائي”.

وواصل: نعلم جميعًا، أنه عندما تسير الأمور لصالح مو، يكون استثنائيًا، تمامًا، من الواضح أن الأمور كانت جيدة معه الليلة”.
