Eu errei e resultou no gol.

O goleiro do Goiás ressaltou o futebol apresentado no domingo e comparou a partida com o jogo diante do Vila Nova.

Steve Bruce set to welcome Newcastle’s Federico Fernandez back vs Man City

Federico Fernandez is set to hand Steve Bruce a Boxing Day boost with the Newcastle United defender on course to make his return to action at Manchester City.

According to The Northern Echo, the centre-half is being assessed ahead of Saturday night’s clash with Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues after he was substituted off at the half-time break during last weekend’s draw with Fulham having shown signs of serious fatigue.

Bruce linked the Argentine’s issues to Newcastle’s recent coronavirus outbreak, and was forced to tackle Tuesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Brentford without Fernandez plus fellow defensive options Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles.

Bruce is hopeful Fernandez will be passed fit to face the Citizens on Boxing Day as Newcastle begin a testing run of festive fixtures, with a midweek meeting with champions Liverpool to follow before hosting Leicester City next Sunday.

Fernandez is well-regarded as being the Toon’s most consistent centre-half thus far this season and one who could ease Bruce’s defensive concerns, after being forced to start Isaac Hayden out of position to help cover with his mounting challenges.

“I sincerely hope we’ll have a few back, certainly in the defensive areas, which then leads to putting midfield players in their right positions,” Bruce said. “It’s been very difficult for the last week or ten days.

“We have freshened things up, but we are desperately short in defensive areas where it has hit us most badly. We will be looking to freshen things up if we can, and it’s vitally important we do that because we have some big games coming up.”

Fernandez’s return would certainly be a welcome boost for Bruce against Manchester City, providing the £4m-rated 31-year-old has regained his match-fitness and will not need replacing at the break once again.

The former Swansea City man, who Bruce lauds as a “great professional”, has started all 12 of his Premier League appearances thus far this season, only sitting out the Magpies’ 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion earlier this month.

His efforts in those fixtures have returned 64 clearances and blocked a team-high 19 shots – almost twice as many as any other Newcastle player in both accounts – plus 10 successful tackles and five interceptions while winning 18 ground duels and 22 aerial contests, per SofaScore.

Fernandez’s return to fitness would come at the perfect time for Bruce, after Manchester City appeared to near the best with a dominant win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions.

AND in other news, an £11m-rated Newcastle star betrayed Steve Bruce with an invisible display at Brentford.

All change for hosts and visitors

ESPNcricinfo previews the first ODI between South Africa and Australia in Centurion

The Preview by Daniel Brettig18-Oct-2011Match factsSouth Africa v Australia, October 18, Centurion
Start time 1430 (1230 GMT, 23.30 EDT, 23.00 CDT, 20.30 WST)No longer the captain, Graeme Smith will want to contribute more with the bat than he did in the T20 leg of the series•AFP

Big PictureAustralia and South Africa have shared a theme of all change since both endured earlier World Cup exits than they had bargained for. Had the two teams faced each other in that tournament, it would have been with different captains, different coaches and arguably different approaches to the contest. In each case there is now also an element of the incomplete transition. Australia are touring with an interim coach, Troy Cooley, while Cricket Australia casts its net widely for a new man to fill the role. South Africa will be led by a stand-in captain in Hashim Amla while AB de Villiers continues his recovery from a broken finger.A point of contrast between the two sides is the cricket they have played since the World Cup. South Africa have enjoyed an extended break from the game, allowing the new coach Gary Kirsten to settle into his position after leaving India at the conclusion of the World Cup. Though Australia also had a break after the cup, it was interspersed with a brief visit to Bangladesh where the visitors claimed a 3-0 sweep, then a successful tour of Sri Lanka where both the ODI and Test series were won by Michael Clarke’s men.Now Australia have the benefit of a deep and fully fit battery of fast bowlers, with the teenager Pat Cummins a most enticing new addition. South Africa must find the correct balance under Kirsten and Amla, though in Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Jacques Kallis and Amla himself there is one of the most accomplished senior groups in world cricket.Form guideSouth Africa: LWWWL
Australia: LWLWWIn the spotlightGraeme Smith stepped down from the Twenty20 and ODI captaincy following the World Cup defeat, and for all his successes in Test cricket he had been unable to shake the unwanted “choking” tag from the team at major tournaments. A duck and 24 in the two T20 matches was not an outstanding return, and Smith will need to be at his best against an Australian attack that is clearly enjoying the pace and bounce on offer in South Africa after the trials of Sri Lanka’s numerous unforgiving batting surfaces.Michael Clarke showed tremendous poise and natural flair for captaincy on his first full tour in charge, but has acknowledged that the challenge will be far greater in South Africa. Added to his list of tasks on this trip is to hold together a highly transitional tour unit, with an interim coach and temporary selection panel, against opponents perfectly happy to exploit any weakness they can find. Clarke is also an exceptional player of spin but has been challenged by pace in the past, notably against England last summer. Steyn will be particularly keen to get at him.Pitch and conditionsCenturion’s surface has generally offered plenty of runs to batsmen, though there is also the possibility of bounce, movement and wickets for bowlers prepared to bend their backs. This may be even truer with a new ball being taken at each end as per the new ICC playing conditions.Team newsSouth Africa’s major selection doubt surrounds the place of the legspinner Imran Tahir, who excelled during the World Cup. He may take the place of Morne Morkel or Lonwabo Tsotsobe, though rain in the region may encourage the selection of three quicks.South Africa (probable) 1 Graeme Smith, 2 Hashim Amla (capt), 3 Jacques Kallis, 4 Jean-Paul Duminy, 5 David Miller, 6 Faf du Plessis, 7 Mark Boucher (wk), 8 Johan Botha, 9 Dale Steyn, 10 Morne Morkel, 11 Lonwabo Tsotsobe.Shane Watson’s hip complaint is expected to keep him out of the first ODI at least, presenting a chance for David Warner at the top of the order. The loss of Watson’s allround skills should also provide an opening for Mitchell Marsh, while Pat Cummins may shade James Pattinson to earn an ODI debut following his T20 success.Australia (probable) 1 Shaun Marsh, 2 David Warner, 3 Ricky Ponting, 4 Michael Clarke (capt), 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Mitchell Marsh, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Pat Cummins, 10 Xavier Doherty, 11 Doug Bollinger.Stats & Trivia Australia have won seven of 11 matches at Centurion, and the venue provided an important stepping stone to success in the 2003 World Cup and the 2009 Champions Trophy. However the record against South Africa is a little more balanced at 3-2 in favour of the hosts. South Africa can draw all but level with Australia on the ICC ODI rankings with a 3-0 series sweep. The top-ranked Australians presently have a 14-point advantage over the Proteas. Quotes
“Having lost AB is massive, You cant replace a guy like AB overnight, that comes over years. It’s a big loss for SA cricket, our middle order and batting all in all. There is probably pressure on the middle order but injuries are part of the game nowadays.”
“There’s definitely still a chance. We won’t pick our team until tomorrow morning. If they are not, it’s important to make a smart decision..”
Michael Clarke on Shane Watson and Shaun Marsh’s injuries.

Nigel Pearson’s eccentricity blind-sides us to his coaching acumen

Such is the fate of anyone with an unorthodox and large personality, Nigel Pearson’s reputation precedes him. The recently installed Watford boss is a disciplinarian. He is scary. He has the severe haircut of an eleven-year-old bully and the demeanour of a community copper with a grudge.

Then there are his ostrich quotes. You know the ones. On taking umbrage with a reporter who questioned whether Pearson’s Leicester side were receiving undue negative coverage, they spewed forth in an estuary accent to a gob-smacked press room. “I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be no. I can. You can’t.”

There aren’t many Premier League managers who make such boasts but Pearson already had form for bizarre bragging, once claiming that he outwitted a pack of wild dogs in the Carpathian mountains by rolling around in nettles. How could we forget too his strange ‘I’m more than capable of looking after myself’ defence after a downright weird touchline fracas with Wigan’s James McArthur in 2015. What bothered people at the time was his unerring smile as he placed the midfielder in a stranglehold after an accidental collision. Pearson though – for reasons that will never be explainable – mistook our confusion as a slight on his masculinity.

So of course when dealing with an original character as this preconceived perceptions follow suit. A cartoonish, one-dimensional prejudice that means when that person is appointed manager of a struggling Premier League club after a couple of years out of the spotlight, we smile and wonder what madness awaits. That in itself is perfectly understandable.

Whose Line Is It Anyway: Roy Keane, Graeme Souness or Adrian Durham?

Where legitimacy ends however is when that appointment is greeted with a big dose of surprise because the personality behind the coach merges in our mind’s eye with his managerial acumen.  That is unfair and hopefully, having picked up eight points from his opening five games in charge at Watford – that includes also a series of noticeably improved, better organised and committed displays – we are now seeing the error in that. We are now separating the man and the manager.

Because make no mistake about it, Pearson is an excellent coach. It was illustrated in his superb marshalling of the Foxes to survival in 2015 when all hope seemed to be lost. Empirical proof that an individual has the capacity to revive a club in a tail-spin is exactly what the Hornets need right now.

It is illustrated too in a stabilising of a relegated Hull City in 2010 and guiding them to mid-table in the Championship with a long-standing club record broken along the way, as they remained unbeaten for 14 away games.

Mostly, it is illustrated in the groundwork he can take credit for prior to Leicester City’s incredible Premier League title triumph. It was Pearson who signed Jamie Vardy from non-league Fleetwood. It was Pearson who signed Riyad Mahrez, then a relative unknown and Danny Drinkwater, likewise. It was him who brought in Robert Huth mid-season, putting the first bricks in place for what became an iconic Leicester backline.

To relish the prospect of further daftness in interviews and incidents from this unique character is entirely natural given Pearson’s back catalogue of weirdness. But let’s not forget that there is every reason to believe it will be Watford fans laughing loudest at the season’s end.

Boasting a squad so Premier League proven that it finished eleventh last season and reached the FA Cup final, as results are already showing Pearson is more than capable of guiding the Vicarage Road outfit back to their usual abode of mid table.

Derbyshire strikes keep Lancashire in check

Derbyshire’s pace attack delivered a late twist to another enthralling day to give the home side a slender advantage in their Division Two match against Lancashire

Derbyshire’s pace attack delivered a late twist to another enthralling day to give the home side a slender advantage in their Division Two match against Lancashire. Mark Footitt and Tom Taylor dismissed openers Paul Horton and Luis Reece along with nightwatchman Peter Siddle as the visitors closed on 36 for 3, a lead of only 55 with two days remaining.A fourth-wicket stand of 148 between Billy Godleman and Wes Durston helped Derbyshire recover from an impressive opening spell from Siddle to reach 274, with England spinner Simon Kerrigan taking 3 for 21 from 18.5 oversThe late drama reflected the start of the day, with Lancashire’s hopes of a third batting point vanishing when their last two wickets fell for one run – Taylor bowling Kerrigan and having Tom Bailey caught at third slip without scoring.Siddle delivered a quality nine over spell from the Racecourse end to remove Martin Guptill and Wayne Madsen as the home side slipped to 26 for 3. Bailey trapped Ben Slater lbw half forward before Siddle discovered his line to have Guptill taken head high at second slip by Tom Smith and find Madsen’s outside edge.Siddle was unlucky not to claim more wickets as he repeatedly beat Durston and Godleman but they hung on and took advantage when the Australian was rested. They grew in authority as the second day mirrored the first, with the batsmen prospering in the post-lunch sunshine as the ball lost its hardness.Durston pulled Kyle Jarvis for his sixth four to reach 50 off 61 balls and Godleman brought up the 100 stand when he drove Smith to the cover boundary. The opener steered Smith to third man for his eighth four to bring up his 50 and Lancashire had become desperate for a breakthrough when Durston tried to hit Kerrigan over the top and became the spinner’s 200th Championship victim.Shiv Thakor became the third Derbyshire batsman to fall without scoring when he edged Bailey to first slip and Godleman was caught behind cutting at Jarvis. The rest of the innings fell to spin but Alex Hughes, who hooked Jarvis for six, and Harvey Hosein both played well to deny Lancashire a bigger lead before Taylor and Footitt struck.Horton was yorked, Reece edged behind and Siddle was taken low at first slip to leave Durston looking forward to the morning. “I would say it’s very even but getting those three wickets means we can go into day three still par and I think the first session will be very important to setting up the rest of this game,” he said.”Early in the morning the ball does a little bit and hopefully we can use that to our advantage and nip out a couple more so the first two hours will be very important.”Kerrigan admitted he was unaware he had reached a personal milestone: “I hadn’t a clue but it’s a really pleasing thing for me to achieve and hopefully there are plenty more landmarks to come for me. Hopefully we can bat well tomorrow and look to try and get what we did in the first innings.”
