France head coach Didier Deschamps has revealed that new Tottenham signing Hugo Lloris is unhappy with comments made by club boss Andre Villas-Boas.
The goalkeeper made a deadline day switch to White Hart Lane from Lyon, and is viewed as the long-term successor to Brad Friedel.
However, Villas-Boas has stated that the new signing is not guaranteed a first-team place automatically after moving to north London, which has apparently frustrated Lloris.
“Hugo has not appreciated the statements of his coach,” Deschamps told reporters at a press conference, published in The Guardian.
“I am not going to create a problem that I do not need today. But if it were to happen then it would need some consideration. I do not want Hugo to find himself in this situation.”
Friedel made a number of excellent saves in Spurs’ most recent fixture, a 1-1 draw with Norwich, and it remains to be seen who AVB will select between the sticks in the side’s next game after the international break.

West Ham United have been, surprisingly, one of the most active teams in the transfer market this summer.
The Hammers have already purchased Argentine attacking sensation Mauro Zarate, defender Cheikhou Kouyaté, and marauding left-back Aaron Cresswell… as well as about to announce the signing of Diego Poyet.
At this rate many Irons fans are already hoping for the Premier League kick-off to see their new stars in action, but with two months of potential transfer activity still remaining, West Ham could do with a few more additions.
The World Cup has now reached the semi-finals and the we’re only a week away from celebrating a new world champion, but were there any players that stood out in the group stages that West Ham can swoop in to sign?
We take a look into Group F, which saw Argentina and Nigeria progress at the expense of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran. Are any players worthy of Sam Allardyce’s notice?
Here are SIX WORLD CUP STARS West Ham should sign from Group F.
[ffc-gallery]CLICK ON AHMED MUSA TO SEE THE FULL LIST!
[/ffc-gallery]
Ahmed Musa
Age: 21
Club: CSKA Moscow
Position: RW
Nationality: Nigeria
Estimated Value: £10million
Ahmed Musa has been regularly scoring at his young age but really burst into the scene when he scored both goals in Nigeria’s tight contest against Argentina this summer, the first Nigerian to score two goals in a World Cup fixture.
West Ham would love to have a winger capable of chipping in with a few goals, with his menacing pace and dribbling down the right side a danger for any opponent.
He would however be one of West Ham’s more expensive purchases, with a £10million believe to be the minimum.
Augusto Fernandez
//www.youtube.com/embed/vY5q36GZ7Os
Age: 28
Club: Celta Vigo
Position: RW
Nationality: Argentina
Estimated Value: £5million
Sam Allardyce has promised some attractive attacking football this coming season and a swoop for Augusto Fernandez could be exactly what the Hammers need.
Mauro Zarate’s adapting to Upton Park won’t be easy, but the signing of Fernandez would help with that aspect as well as give an added dimension to the West ham attack.
Usually deployed as a right winger, the 28-year-old is good on the ball and capable of putting through an incisive through ball to a forward… especially of Zarate’s calibre. A swoop of around £5million could see the La Liga outfit negotiate for his transfer.
Muhamed Besic
Age: 21
Club: Ferencváros Budapest
Position: CM
Nationality: Bosnia-Herzegovina
Estimated Value: £2million
One of the stars of the Bosnian side, the young central-midfielder has amazing stats of 91% passing accuracy in the group stages (6th in the rankings). Besic has also played centre-back, proving his versatility and ability.
Although West ham have just signed midfielder Diego Poyet, a player of this calibre for only £2million would be a steal and would provide the Hammers with for once a midfield capable of controlling the pace of the game.
Kenneth Omeruo
Age: 20
Club: Chelsea
Position: CB
Nationality: Nigeria
Estimated Value: £2million or Loan
Chelsea have been known to purchase young talent and send them out on loan, but with Omeruo’s amazing performances during the World Cup West Ham should come knocking to sign the Nigerian centre-back.
Omeruo is extremely strong in the air and a very capable tackler. The 20-year-old won 12/14 aerial duels (whoscored.com) and would be a reliable partner for the future to newly signed Kouyate. If not the Hammers should even consider a loan, making their back-line extremely difficult to penetrate.
Ashkan Dejagah
Age: 27
Club: Fulham

Position: RM
Nationality: Iran
Estimated Value: £3million
Don’t let Dejagah’s choice to play for Asian side Iran fool you, the Fulham man has played for Germany in all Youth levels and impressed while doing so. He also won the Bundesliga back in 2008 with Wolfsburg, being an essential player in the triumph.
The right winger is quick and good on the ball, but more importantly tracks back well, contributing to the team’s defence. West Ham could use a player of this ilk, as Sam Allardyce may have promised attacking football but in the end still values defensive solidity.
With the Cottagers relegated, the Hammers could lure Dejagah for around £3million.
Efe Ambrose
Age: 25
Club: Celtic
Position: RB, CB
Nationality: Nigeria
Estimated Value: £4million
With the signing of Aaron Cresswell completed, ‘Big Sam’ has a left back that pushes up in support of the attack. And if the manager wants balance on the other side, could make a bid for Nigeria right-back Efe Ambrose.
The Nigerian is a useful outlet during an attack but is extremely solid defensively, and has a large amount of experience playing all four of Nigeria’s World Cup games as well as regular games in the UEFA Champions League for Celtic.
If Sam Allardyce can convince the 25-year-old to make a move to Upton Park, Hammer fans could very well see the revolution they were finally hoping for.
Arsenal have been given renewed hope in their chase of Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic, after Inter Milan pulled out of a deal to bring the forward to the San Siro, according to the Metro.
Inter were expected to complete the surprise deal, which would have seen former Chelsea target Fredy Gaurin move in the opposite direction.
However, with Vucinic three years older than the 27-year-old Guarin, and on a considerably higher salary, Inter decided against completing the deal.
A statement on the club’s website read:
“Internazionale would like to announce that we have decided not to proceed in negotiations with Juventus for the transfer between Fredy Guarin and Mirko Vucinic.
President Thohir, after discussions with Massimo Moratti, his son Angelomario and with the company directors, considered that the conditions were not met, technical or economical, to reach an agreement and has already given a mandate to the technical team to evaluate other opportunities in the market, with the aim to strengthen in respect of the economic parameters set by the Financial Fair Play.”
That has put Arsenal back in the frame to land Vucinic, who looks set to leave the Old Lady this month.
The 30-year-old has struggled for first team football since the summer arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.
The Gunners are hoping to complete the signing of the forward on loan until the end of the season.

Yorkshire have Phil Jaques and Kane Williamson to thank for leaving them in a position to chase the most remarkable of Championship wins against Durham having been asked to follow-on after lunch on day three with a deficit of 299 runs

Yorkshire have Phil Jaques and Kane Williamson to thank for leaving them in a position to chase the most remarkable of Championship wins against Durham having been asked to follow-on after lunch on day three with a deficit of 299 runs. That is the county’s aim heading into tomorrow’s fourth day at Scarborough, no matter how unlikely it may seem. The contest between the Championship’s top two became one to relish as it swung one way then the other on the third day. Jaques and Williamson, Australia and New Zealand Test batsmen respectively, challenged Durham’s position of strength with an unbroken second wicket partnership of 257 inside 60 overs to recover the score from 19 for 1 following the early loss of Adam Lyth.As Lyth trooped off, Yorkshire, the Championship leaders, were contemplating a second defeat of the season. But Jaques scored the 42nd century of his first-class career, 151 not out off 192 balls, while Williamson, a late-season overseas signing designed to stiffen their Championship challenge, added an unbeaten 90 to his first innings 84.Williamson ended the day having achieved the rare feat of completing a century partnership in the first innings, which slipped from 182 for 3 to 274 all out, and a double century in the second both on the same day.”The game’s still well and truly open,” said Jaques, who helped to reduce his side’s deficit to just 23 runs with his eleventh century in Yorkshire colours. “There’s a lot of rough to work with, and they’ve got a lot of left-handers. We’ve also got a leg-spinner. If we can get a decent little lead, we might have a crack at them tomorrow afternoon.”They were well on top making us follow-on, but we’ve pretty much knocked over their lead now. We’re Yorkshire, and we’re trying to win games of cricket. If it gets to a point where we’re not scoring quick enough to build a lead, so be it. It’s a fast scoring ground. If you don’t bowl well, you’ll go the distance. If you do bowl well, there’s still something in it.”Yorkshire are still not clear of danger, but it would seem unlikely that they will suffer another collapse like they did on the third morning when they slipped from a position of relative comfort at 211 for 3 with Williamson and Jonny Bairstow, who made 82, going nicely. They lost their last seven wickets for 63 in the face of some probing bowling from Ben Stokes, Scott Borthwick, Jamie Harrison and Mark Wood, who all finished with two wickets. The loss of Wood to a side strain for the afternoon and evening sessions hurt Durham. The run out of Gary Ballance following a mix-up with Bairstow summed up Yorkshire’s morning. The left-hander played his first ball beyond Chris Rushworth at mid-wicket, who chased the ball down and threw back to Phil Mustard behind the stumps as the pair went for two. Mustard did the rest with Ballance diving in vain to make his ground. The start of Yorkshire’s second innings was not without incident, either. Jaques survived a confident lbw shout from Stokes on 28 during a sustained spell of short-pitched bowling from the seamer. Jaques top-edged a six over long-leg and a four over Mustard’s head before settling down to take advantage of a tiring attack. There was also the unusual sight of a seven-ball over and an even rarer four-ball over, both bowled by Harrison from the Trafalgar Square End of the ground, where Martin Bodenham was standing. The four-ball over consisted of two no balls, which were not bowled again. It was a strange old day. Mind you, it could be the same on the final day as well.

Such is the fate of anyone with an unorthodox and large personality, Nigel Pearson’s reputation precedes him. The recently installed Watford boss is a disciplinarian. He is scary. He has the severe haircut of an eleven-year-old bully and the demeanour of a community copper with a grudge.
Then there are his ostrich quotes. You know the ones. On taking umbrage with a reporter who questioned whether Pearson’s Leicester side were receiving undue negative coverage, they spewed forth in an estuary accent to a gob-smacked press room. “I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be no. I can. You can’t.”
There aren’t many Premier League managers who make such boasts but Pearson already had form for bizarre bragging, once claiming that he outwitted a pack of wild dogs in the Carpathian mountains by rolling around in nettles. How could we forget too his strange ‘I’m more than capable of looking after myself’ defence after a downright weird touchline fracas with Wigan’s James McArthur in 2015. What bothered people at the time was his unerring smile as he placed the midfielder in a stranglehold after an accidental collision. Pearson though – for reasons that will never be explainable – mistook our confusion as a slight on his masculinity.
So of course when dealing with an original character as this preconceived perceptions follow suit. A cartoonish, one-dimensional prejudice that means when that person is appointed manager of a struggling Premier League club after a couple of years out of the spotlight, we smile and wonder what madness awaits. That in itself is perfectly understandable.
Whose Line Is It Anyway: Roy Keane, Graeme Souness or Adrian Durham?
Where legitimacy ends however is when that appointment is greeted with a big dose of surprise because the personality behind the coach merges in our mind’s eye with his managerial acumen. That is unfair and hopefully, having picked up eight points from his opening five games in charge at Watford – that includes also a series of noticeably improved, better organised and committed displays – we are now seeing the error in that. We are now separating the man and the manager.
Because make no mistake about it, Pearson is an excellent coach. It was illustrated in his superb marshalling of the Foxes to survival in 2015 when all hope seemed to be lost. Empirical proof that an individual has the capacity to revive a club in a tail-spin is exactly what the Hornets need right now.
It is illustrated too in a stabilising of a relegated Hull City in 2010 and guiding them to mid-table in the Championship with a long-standing club record broken along the way, as they remained unbeaten for 14 away games.
Mostly, it is illustrated in the groundwork he can take credit for prior to Leicester City’s incredible Premier League title triumph. It was Pearson who signed Jamie Vardy from non-league Fleetwood. It was Pearson who signed Riyad Mahrez, then a relative unknown and Danny Drinkwater, likewise. It was him who brought in Robert Huth mid-season, putting the first bricks in place for what became an iconic Leicester backline.
To relish the prospect of further daftness in interviews and incidents from this unique character is entirely natural given Pearson’s back catalogue of weirdness. But let’s not forget that there is every reason to believe it will be Watford fans laughing loudest at the season’s end.
Boasting a squad so Premier League proven that it finished eleventh last season and reached the FA Cup final, as results are already showing Pearson is more than capable of guiding the Vicarage Road outfit back to their usual abode of mid table.
ESPNcricinfo previews the Group A match between Perth Scorchers and Lions in Ahmedabad
The Preview by Vishal Dikshit22-Sep-2013Match factsSeptember 23, 2013 Start time 1600 (1030 GMT)Brad Hogg will bring his experience of Indian conditions into play for Perth Scorchers•Getty Images
Big PictureIn a clash between the runners-up of the Big Bash League, Perth Scorchers, and South Africa’s T20 champions, the Lions, there is some common ground that the teams share, although their situations are different. Both have new coaches but for different reasons. The Scorchers will be coached by Justin Langer after a controversy during last year’s Champions League, resulted in the resignation of the coach and captain. The Lions, on the other hand, have had a change in fortunes after they ended a five-season trophy drought with a win in the T20 competition earlier in the year under new coach Geoff Toyana. Both teams also have decent spin attacks. The Scorchers have Brad Hogg, Ashton Agar, Michael Beer and Ashton Turner, the only right-arm spinner in the attack. The Lions, on the other hand, have Imran Tahir and Aaron Phangiso in the squad. The difference lies in Hogg’s experience on Indian soil, gained from tours for Australia and IPL matches for Rajasthan Royals. Phangiso was the leading wicket-taker for Lions in the CLT20 held in South Africa last year, but bowling on Indian pitches will pose a steeper challenge. However, the Scorchers have a depleted squad this time, depriving them of depth in batting and pace bowling. Shaun and Mitchell Marsh are out due to injured hamstrings, strike bowler Alfonso Thomas is with Somerset and two other players – Nathan Coulter-Nile and Michael Hussey – are representing their IPL teams, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, respectively. Lions’ will only miss Chris Morris to Super Kings and their pace attack comprises Hardus Viljoen, Sohail Tanvir and Lonwabo Tsotsobe. Both teams have another similarity that may trouble them: lack of experience in India. Barring Hogg, captain Simon Katich is the only player the Scorchers can look to for knowledge of subcontinent conditions. Lions have been elevated by the form of Quinton de Kock but his struggle in subcontinent conditions, 95 runs from six matches in Sri Lanka and six runs in three matches in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad, will bother him.Players to watchAdam Voges may rescue the Scorchers’ fortunes with his hard-hitting batting and part-time bowling. For a squad that misses at least three frontline batsmen, Voges could prove to be the pillar they can rely on and a run-machine they can resort look to for quick-hitting. His T20 strike rate of 131.13 from 117 matches at an average 31.56, including 12 fifties, is hard to ignore.Imran Tahir, a bowler who has played ODIs only in the subcontinent, will lead the Lions’ spin attack. On an Indian pitch against the Scorchers’ inexperienced batsmen, Tahir could prove to be a trump card. He has the experience of playing in different conditions around the world and a successful tournament would do justice to his talent.
